SpaBalancer and greenish discoloration of the water in the whirlpool? -- F067

We have been using SpaBalancer products for the care and cleaning of our whirlpool for three years and have been highly satisfied so far. Yesterday, I received a bottle of SpaBalancer Basic from my son-in-law and after using it (approx. 40 ml), I suddenly noticed a clouding and greenish discoloration of the water. The ground is covered by a yellowish layer of mist. After 12 hours, we added 80 ml of Ultrashock this morning, but unfortunately this did not lead to any improvement.

The water has been in the pool for about 2.5 months and is treated regularly (also outside of use), so far without any clouding, so that I can exclude contamination (the last use was a week ago).

Do you have an idea what happened here? I am afraid that after a water change such a discolouration may occur again under certain circumstances.

Answer:
If you put SpaBalancer Basic in water with a dirt load, it will become cloudy and this yellowish mist layer may result. Even water without visible dirt can have a high load of suspended matter. These suspended particles can consist of organic dirt and/or minerals (iron, copper, manganese, lime, dust, etc.). Only if you have dirt in the water does SpaBalancer produce this reaction because it encapsulates this dirt. If you add SpaBalancer to distilled water, the water will remain crystal clear.

In this case, it is most helpful to increase the filter running time to a maximum and clean the filters daily with filter cleaner.
A quick cleaning of the filters is done like this:
1. add double the amount of Filter Clean Natural to the warm cleaning water.
2. soak the filter in the cleaning water for two hours.
3. rinse the filter with boiling hot water
4. then rinse normally with filter spray.
The cleaning water can be used several times.

This is the fastest and cheapest way to get the encapsulated dirt out of the water. It is also helpful to add more Ultrashock. This can be 50 ml per day or more.
As inflatable whirlpools have very small and poor quality filters, it is generally difficult to filter out the encapsulated dirt. Therefore, if problems occur, I would halve the addition of SpaBalancer Basic and double or triple the addition of Ultrashock.
