Can I use salt in the spa to clean the water? -- F058

Can I use SpaBalancer and Ultrashock in salty water? I have read that salt water reduces the number of germs and you need less water care product. We have a 2400 litre bath tub. If so, how much salt should I use for the amount of water?

Answer:
You can use SpaBalancer in salty water. SpaBalancer Basic and also Ultrashock work in salty water.

However, it is not true that the salty water reduces the germ count. This may still work reasonably well in seawater. There it is 3.5% and more salt content. In the pool and in the whirlpool are approx. 0.3 to 0.5 % salt content. This salt is used in conjunction with an electrolysis unit to produce chlorine from the salt (sodium chloride). The chlorine thus produced kills germs. Not the salt. Some people find the salty water more pleasant on the skin. However, this is not necessary when using SpaBalancer products because the water is very pleasant and soft to the skin due to the SpaBalancer products.
It should also be noted that salty water can more quickly lead to corrosion of metal parts (pumps, heating, nozzles).
